Welcome to Klong Nin Beach

Early in the morning, a few days ago, we flew from Bangkok to Krabi in the south of Thailand. We were picked up at the airport and driven an hour to the Koh Lanta Noi ferry, over the bridge to Koh Lanta Yai and then south for about 25 minutes to our accommodation on Klong Nin Beach.

Klong Nin is new to us; we stayed up at the north part of Koh Lanta last year, on Khlong Dao Beach. Beaches all have their own character and it can be hard to compare them, but a lot of people think Klong Nin is the best beach on Koh Lanta.

It’s very beautiful!

About 3km long, Klong Nin Beach is narrow with a pretty good slope to it, and the sand is soft and squishy. Because of this, I find exercise on the beach to be a little more technical than on Khlong Dao. The water gets deep quickly and by the afternoon, it’s as warm as bath water. Beach bars and restaurants are mostly scattered in the top 2/3 of the beach.

After getting settled in our villa, we hit the beach and found a good looking spot for lunch: Som Tam salad, tempura prawns, one coconut and one Chang beer. After a swim, we went back to the villa for the evening and got some takeout kebabs.

For the past couple of days, we’ve explored the beach in the morning, hung out at the villa in the afternoon, and hit up local Thai restaurants in the evening. Pretty awesome!!
